Y do we get sick?

Theme:  Letter Y
We met Yolanda Yak and practiced making the Y sound.  We practiced writing Y/y.  We noticed that Y looks like a V standing on one foot.  We had fun spelling "YOU" even though it sounds like U.  Some of our focus words included you, yellow, yeast, yawn, yes, yogurt, yarn, and yak.

Choosing Time:  bead stringing, painting, ponies, cars...

Snack:  Bread Sticks

Art:  Yellow flowered cards--still working on a surprise!

Science & Cooking:  Yeast Magic (All had fun watching the yeast in H2O and sugar, mixing up the dough, and then rolling out some Yummy bread sticks!)

Music & Movement:
  • Hokey Pokey
  • Oh, What a Miracle
  • Yellow Ducks
  • Make Y with body
Books:  The Little Red Hen
We enjoyed a great discussion about how we feel when people help us and when they don't.

MY APOLOGY--  I am so terribly sorry for canceling 2 days of school this week!  I haven't been this sick for a long time.  Thank you for your understanding and well wishes!
