Back to School Info

****Preschool Begins on Wednesday, September 3rd at 9 am.

I hope your summer has been wonderful!  I have had a lovely summer and feel refreshed and ready to start a fun new year of Preschool.  I'm excited to be acquainted better with you and your kiddos! There are some things that can help you and your child with this transition...

  • Bring a labeled backpack/bag every day.  Make sure there is a change of clothing inside!!!!  Even if you don't think there will be a need :)
  • Dress appropriately for the weather.  Shoes should always accompany child.
  • Please say goodbyes either outside or at the door.  The longer the goodbye, the harder for the child to adapt.
  • PLEASE check my blog regularly.  I will be posting cute pictures and important information. http://missjodiraebear.blogspot.com
  • The snack bucket will be sent home on Wednesday with one of your children.  Please bring it back on Thursday.
  • Show and Tell will be EVERY THURSDAY Morning.  This week, please send a picture of something you did during the summer.

I would invite each child to bring :
  • 1 Box of Kleenex
  •  Labeled Backpack with a change of clothing :)
If you would like to donate some additional supplies here are some things that we use in large quantities:
  • Copy Paper
  • Kleenex
  • Hand Pump Soap
See you Soon!
Love,

Miss Jodi

Y do we get sick?

Theme:  Letter Y
We met Yolanda Yak and practiced making the Y sound.  We practiced writing Y/y.  We noticed that Y looks like a V standing on one foot.  We had fun spelling "YOU" even though it sounds like U.  Some of our focus words included you, yellow, yeast, yawn, yes, yogurt, yarn, and yak.

Choosing Time:  bead stringing, painting, ponies, cars...

Snack:  Bread Sticks

Art:  Yellow flowered cards--still working on a surprise!

Science & Cooking:  Yeast Magic (All had fun watching the yeast in H2O and sugar, mixing up the dough, and then rolling out some Yummy bread sticks!)

Music & Movement:
  • Hokey Pokey
  • Oh, What a Miracle
  • Yellow Ducks
  • Make Y with body
Books:  The Little Red Hen
We enjoyed a great discussion about how we feel when people help us and when they don't.

MY APOLOGY--  I am so terribly sorry for canceling 2 days of school this week!  I haven't been this sick for a long time.  Thank you for your understanding and well wishes!
